Bufftech Kitchen Remodeling: The Fort Myers Owner’s Guide

If you’ve got a Bufftech kitchen and something’s failed, we stock and install the compatible replacement parts right here in Fort Myers. A full Bufftech kitchen remodel typically runs $14,000-$45,000 installed, depending on how much of the original setup needs to be swapped out. Most owners discover the problem the hard way: a cabinet door that won’t stay shut, a drawer slide that finally gave out, or a countertop seam that’s started separating after a few humid Florida summers.

Bufftech kitchens are built with specific dimensional hardware and proprietary mounting systems. That means a generic big-box replacement part rarely fits correctly. I’m Derek Hollenbeck, and my team at Groundwork Construction Co. has been sorting out these exact problems across Lee County for years. We keep the most commonly failed Bufftech components on our trucks, so we’re not making you wait two weeks for a part to ship.

Which Bufftech Models This Applies To

Bufftech produced several cabinet and hardware lines over the years, and parts are not universal across them. The main series we see in Fort Myers homes are the Bufftech Classic, Bufftech Premier, and the later Bufftech Select line. Each used different hinge spacings, drawer glide lengths, and door profiles.

Here’s where owners get tripped up: Bufftech changed their concealed hinge cup diameter from 35mm to 40mm on the Select series around 2016. If you try swapping a Premier-era door onto a Select cabinet box (or vice versa), the hinge won’t seat. The quickest way to identify what you have is to pull a drawer out and look for a sticker on the inside of the cabinet box, or measure the hinge cup on the back of a door. OEM Bufftech parts are still available for most Classic and Premier models through specialty distributors. For the Select line, we typically recommend a quality aftermarket equivalent from Blum or Salice because Bufftech’s own Select hardware has been discontinued in several finishes. The aftermarket options match the mounting footprint exactly, and we’ve installed hundreds without a callback.

We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone components, so if your Bufftech kitchen was a mixed-brand install, we can source across the board.

Signs Your Bufftech Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Drawers that stick, wobble, or come off the track entirely. The nylon rollers inside Bufftech’s side-mount glides wear flat over time, especially in Fort Myers humidity. Once the roller loses its shape, the drawer rides unevenly and eventually jams.
  • Cabinet doors that won’t stay closed or aligned. Bufftech’s concealed hinges use a small spring mechanism that fatigues with use. When the spring goes, the door hangs crooked or bounces back open. A quick test: if you can close the door and it pops back a quarter inch, the hinge spring is shot.
  • Countertop seams separating or laminate peeling at the edges. Florida’s moisture cycle (wet summer, dry winter, repeat) is brutal on laminate countertops. Bufftech’s older post-formed tops were factory-sealed, but once that edge banding lifts, water gets in and the substrate swells. You can’t reseal it at that point, only replace.
  • Soft-close mechanisms that slam instead of glide. Bufftech’s Select series shipped with integrated soft-close pistons inside the drawer glides. Those pistons lose their fluid after 8-10 years of regular use. The drawer still works, but the slam is jarring enough to rattle everything in the cabinet.
  • Shelf pins shearing off inside the cabinet box. Bufftech used plastic shelf pins in many Classic models, and those pins get brittle with age and heat exposure. When one snaps, the shelf drops and the pin hole in the cabinet sidewall usually strips out.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a Bufftech kitchen remodel in Fort Myers, the installed price lands between $14,000 and $45,000. The range depends on what you’re replacing. A focused job (new countertops, resurfaced cabinet boxes, and new doors and drawer fronts on an existing layout) starts around $14,000. A full tear-out and redesign with new cabinetry, countertops, backsplash, and islands runs toward the upper end.

What’s included: we pull and dispose of the old components, supply all replacement parts (OEM or matched aftermarket, your call), handle any sub-cabinet or drywall repair uncovered during the swap, and install everything to manufacturer spec. Every Bufftech job gets our 730-Day Done Right Promise. If something isn’t right two years later, we fix it. No fine print, no chasing a warranty department. Our pricing is upfront, no surprises, and we offer 0% financing for 18 months on jobs that qualify.

DIY or Call Us?

Replacing a single shelf pin or tightening a hinge screw is perfectly reasonable DIY territory. Most homeowners can handle those small fixes with a screwdriver and ten minutes.

Where it goes sideways is anything involving drawer glide replacement, hinge cup re-drilling, or countertop removal. Bufftech’s drawer glides are riveted into the cabinet box on older models. Drilling out those rivets without chewing up the cabinet sidewall takes a steady hand and the right bit. And countertop work isn’t just heavy, it’s connected to your plumbing and possibly your backsplash tile. I’ve walked into too many Fort Myers homes where a well-intentioned Saturday project turned into a bigger mess than the original problem.
